MidAtlantic Cardiovascular Physician Helps Save Life of Carroll County Resident

(December 5, 2008) -- When Donna Hanson went to Access Carroll for relief from vague abdominal pains, she hadn't thought for a moment that her visit would lead to a critical cardiovascular situation.  It did, and as a result of the medical expertise she received from Dr. Charles Cummings of MidAtlantic Cardiovascular who detected and treated a life-threatening cardiac situation, Hanson is able to spend the holidays with family and friends.

When Hanson first came to Access Carroll for treatment of gastrointestinal issues, she was scheduled for abdominal procedures.  Prior to the procedure, she required a pre-operative evaluation during which other symptoms emerged.  The attending physician referred Hanson to Dr. Cummings, a cardiologist with MidAtlantic Cardiovascular who is also a regular volunteer at Access Carroll.   He performed a cardiac stress test and detected a 99% blockage of her right coronary.  Under Dr. Cummings' direction stents were placed and Hanson was eventually discharged to home with a new lease on life.

Cummings, and other cardiologists with MidAtlantic Cardiovascular's Carroll County office, spend time volunteering at medical clinics throughout the region to provide services to patients who might otherwise not have access to qualtiy health care.   Other physicians in MidAtlantic Cardiovascular's Carroll County office include Thomas Guarnieri, Paresh Shah, Margo Vassar, David Wang and Kabir Yousuf.

MidAtlantic Cardiovascular Associates offers full service, responsive heart care through its practice of more than 60 board-certified cardiologists and cardiac surgeons who deliver comprehensive heart care in its 12 offices and through affiliations with leading regional hospitals.  MidAtlantic Cardiovascular offers same-day appointments, early evening appointments, and even weekend appointments...because heart care can't wait.  More information can be found at www.midatlanticcardio.com.
